Northwestern Alumni Nominated for Emmy Awards

The 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced July 12, and several Northwestern alumni were recognized for their work on television this year.

The following alumni received nominations:

  • Ashley Nicole Black for Outstanding Comedy Series as a producer of Ted Lasso. 
  • Stephen Colbert for Outstanding Variety Talk Series as the host of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series; and for Outstanding Short Form Comedy for Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out The News. 
  • Patrick Hogan for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy Drama (Half-Hour) and Animation for the Cobra Kai episode "The Rise." 
  • Seth Meyers for Outstanding Variety Talk Series as the host of Late Night with Seth Meyers; and Outstanding Short Form Comedy for Late Night with Seth Meyers CORRECTIONS. Comedian Jenny Hagel is a writer on the show as well. 
  • Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Their original song, “Maybe Monica,” was featured on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. 
  • Kristin Newman for Outstanding Comedy Series as a co-executive producer of Only Murders in the Building
  • Robin Thede, creator, and executive producer of A Black Lady Sketch Show was nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. The show received four additional nominations including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards airs on September 12 at 7 p.m. CDT on NBC.
