Northwestern Alumni Nominated for Tony Awards

The 76th Annual Tony Awards nominations were announced May 2, 2023, and several members of the Northwestern community were recognized for their work in theater this year.

The following members received nominations or worked on shows that were nominated:

  • Christopher Anselmo is the composer's associate for Kimberly Akimbo, which is up for eight awards, including Best Original Score
  • Zachary Baer is the associate producer for The Sign in Sidney Brunstein’s Window, which is nominated for Best Revival of a Play
  • Lap Chi Chu for Best Lighting Design of a Musical for Camelot, which was also nominated for Best Musical Revival
  • Brian d’Arcy James for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Into the Woods, which is up for Best Musical Revival
  • Jamie Joeyen-Waldorf for Best Revival of a Play as a co-producer for A Doll’s House
  • Seonjae Kim was the associate director of KPOP, which is nominated for three awards
  • Beth Kirkpatrick is in the ensemble for Parade, which is in the running for Best Musical Revival
  • Claire Kwon was in the ensemble for Almost Famous, which was nominated for Best Original Score
  • Ray Lee is in the ensemble for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which is up for Best Musical Revival
  • Dylan Pager for Best Play as the executive producer for Fat Ham
  • Zachary Noah Piser was featured in the cast of KPOP, which is up for Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design of a Musical
  • Jesse Rothschild was the associate producer for KPOP, which is nominated for Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design of a Musical
  • Erica Schwartz for Best Revival of a Play as a co-producer for Parade, which is in the running for six awards
  • David Thompson for Best Book of a Musical for his work with Sharon Washington on New York, New York, which was nominated for Best New Musical and Best Choreography
  • Alexandra Wolfe is the associate general manager for Life of Pi, which is nominated for five awards
